CHAPTER 14

Secure the Bag

A week after the Escondido lick, the Body Snatchers gathered together at the Lab. The Lab was a non-descript two-story warehouse located near Santa Monica, California. The area was chosen for its breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean, privacy, and buildings with no characteristics. The commercial property that they were meeting in was a renovated seafood plant. Although the outside of the warehouse was not appealing to the eyes, the inside boasted a high tech interior complete with fiber optics, an impenetrable surveillance system, an underground bunker, tasteful art, and contemporary office furniture. They were meeting in the East conference room.

Najee dumped the contents of an overstuffed duffel bag onto the conference table. Thick stacks of hundred-dollar bills spilled out into a neat pile. He separated the money six ways, giving everyone in the clique forty-two bandos each. This wasn’t their biggest caper by far. However, it was enough to pay the bills and still be able to stash away a few racks for a rainy day. Everyone was satisfied except, Rio. He shook his head in disappointment while scraping the money off the table and into his leather Gucci backpack. Najee watched Rio’s body language out of the corner of his eye but didn’t speak on it. The last lick didn’t meet his expectations either, he was ready to move on to bigger and better things.

“I know this ain’t a lot of loot.”

“Damn right it ain't,” Rio mumbled under his breath. He was ready to break off from the Body Snatchers and do his own thing.

Najee ignored the comment and continued to speak, “But if you haven’t been blowin’ yo’ dust, then you should have at least a ticket tucked away. But I know some of you have been trickin’ off on cars, women and fancy jewelry.”

He paused and looked directly at the twin platinum Jesus pieces sprinkled with diamonds dangling from Rio’s neck. Each chain was appraised at $75,000 a pop. Najee didn’t rock a lot of bling. The rapid flutter of a money counter machine was his drug. The smell of currency was like a line of Peruvian coke transporting him to euphoria.

“Anyways, like I was saying, we got one last lick to hit, and then we’re moving on to bigger and better things. We’re about to put an end to corporate greed. When we’re hitting our list of fortune 500 companies, Wall Street is gonna be shook! I’m talking about computer scams, credit card fraud, identity theft and any other high-tech crimes we can think of. Are y’all with it?”

Hell yeah, they were with it! The tension in the room lightened and Najee moved on to the next two items on his agenda.

“Juice, what’s up with those fullies equipped with silencers those A-Rabs were talkin’ about?”

“It sounded too good to be true dawg, so I passed on ‘em. I got another plug in Wisconsin at Badger Guns, though. They seem solid.”

“A’ight cool, stay on it. And speaking of Wisconsin, did you upload the
