Chapter Twenty-Three

Sin

“Another.”

“I think you’ve had enough.”

I grab the glass and slam it down on the bar so hard it cracks. “Pour me another fucking drink before I crawl over the bar and get it myself,” I growl. I’m not sure I can make it over the bar in this state, but I’ll figure out how.

The bartender quickly pours me a drink. Of course he does.

I don’t sip it, I down it, then I get up and slam into some asshole who’d been plowing past me.

“What the fuck!” he yells, like I’ve offended him.

It ignites the fire inside me, so I grab the front of his shirt and haul him toward me. “What was that?”

He looks at my raised fist and holds his arms up. “Nothing.”

The bouncer, seeing what’s happening, rushes up. “Sin, out,” he snaps.

I let go of the man because now my attention is on the bouncer. I’m on him in an instant, slamming him against the wall. “What was that?”

He’s scared, I can see it in his expression. “You’ve had enough. Go home.”

It gives me no satisfaction beating a terrified man. “Fuck you,” I growl as I push off him and make my way through the door. I stagger out to my car and struggle to get the key into the door.

“Just walk home, you’re going to kill yourself driving!” the bouncer shouts from the doorway of the bar.

I flip him off with both hands, which causes me to lose the grip I had on the keys and drop them. He storms across the street to me, clearly gaining back the confidence he’d formerly lost. “I haven’t seen you this fucking drunk in a while. What happened?”

And now he cares? “None of your damn business. Got it?”

He doesn’t back down, but I also notice he’s staying well over an arm’s length away. “Well, it is, because you’re staggering around like an idiot.”

“What’s your name?”

He stares at me in shock. “I’ve known you for years, and you don’t know my name?”

“Correct.”

He sighs. “Terry.”

“Terry, go fuck yourself.” I kneel down and pick up my keys. This time, I finally get them in the door and climb inside before realizing that I left the keys in the door. I have to get back up to retrieve them. Terry is staring at me, shaking his head irritatingly. “Now, go fuck yourself.”

He sighs. “Such a charming man.”

“Thank you,” I say as I slam the door shut and start the car. I stomp on the gas, making the tires squeal before the car shoots off down the street.

I can’t stop thinking about Eastyn. What did Sawyer do to Eastyn? I’ve heard about him cutting off fingers, castrating men, and breaking their arms and legs all because he enjoys it. What will he do to someone who truly went against him?

My mind strays to him pinning Eastyn down in his bed. Touching what is mine. Forcing him to do whatever fucked-up things he does to him. If I even knew part of it, I think I would raze this city until I found him, and then I would murder him.
