Have dinner with me tonight, he said. It will be fun. Razeen said it with such conviction, Alexandra muses to herself as she fidgets over her black dress. Even though the length of the flowy skirt does not go higher than her knees, it still feels too revealing.

The man had essentially mauled me on a ship and somehow found a way to charm my son, Alexandra inwardly boils. And you like it, another voice gleefully slithers through her mind.

“Why did I agree to this?” Alexandra bemoans her mirrored image as her hands instinctively brush a lock of her hair from the side of her face to behind her ear. Briefly glancing around the hotel lobby, she shifts on her heels in front of the long accent mirror.

Another part of her rears up as she argues with herself under her breath, “Because you find him intriguing and you want to get to know him more. Plus, he’s a hottie and stirs something exciting within you that no one else has in a long time.”

Then a memory forms and a smile graces her lips. “And he was amazing with Eli.”

But then dread fills her. When they had left the rehabilitation center, Razeen had explained they had to leave through the back entrance of the property because of the paparazzi waiting out front for them.

Spinning away from the mirror, Alexandra groans and squeezes her eyes shut, “He’s royalty! And you have a child.”

Turning in the direction of the elevators, she groans again and opens her eyes, “Maybe this wasn’t a good idea.”

A deep voice chuckles behind her. “Say it a little louder, it might help my ego.”

Smothering a startled shriek, Alexandra blushes as she turns around at the sight of Sheik Razeen standing only a few feet away from her. In his hands is a bouquet of Blood Lilies.

“Oh, Your Majesty, I’m so…” she begins, but he finishes the distance between them and places the bouquet in her hands.

With a grin, he murmurs, “Do not finish that sentence, it’s fine.” Then he takes a step back to look her up and down. “You look breathtaking.”

As she murmurs her thanks for the flowers and breathes in their sickly sweet scent, Razeen glances around the lobby. “And where is Elijah?”

“Oh, I didn’t think he was invited,” Alexandra murmurs, her mind melting a bit at the thought that the man assumed he would be joining them.

“He could have.” Razeen smiles back and takes her hand in a fluid motion as he leads her out of the lobby towards an awaiting limousine. “I hope it wasn’t too much trouble to find someone to look after him while you are out.”

“The nanny the Embassy hired is with him and she’s been absolutely wonderful since we arrived.” Alexandra smiles and nods her head to the driver as the man opens the door to the vehicle and they both slide in.

Once seated on the leather bench seats in the interior of the limo, Alexandra tenses slightly at the tingles that buzz through her hand as Razeen’s fingers slide over her wrist’s pulse.
