Sunday, August 23

Teamwork.

Since I have now missed two days of training, Luke has decided that I have to train extra hard today to make up for it. I’m all for that, because I despise taking time off. It makes me feel weak. Even when I am sick, I still work. I can’t remember the last time I had one day off, let alone two.

Sunday is usually a ‘day off’ for a lot of Spy School students, but is there ever really a day off at Spy School? They still offer special training classes. I know there is a group heading out to the gun range today, another group is running a marathon, and I think there is even a dance class today.

When Luke and I get to the gym, I find there are quite a few other people in there too, including Carson. When he sees us, he walks over to join us.

“Back training again, I see.” Carson stands at the side, watching Luke and me spar.

I block a punch from Luke. “Well, somebody kidnapped me, and I had to take a couple of days off to deal with the fall out.”

Luke glances from me to Carson. “Dude, not cool. You could’ve told her what you needed to without kidnapping her.”

I use Luke’s distraction to knock his feet out from under him. “Pay attention, Luke. If you want to be a good agent, you need to learn to talk and fight at the same time.”

Luke grunts, sitting up slightly. He rubs his shoulder where it hit the floor. “Geez, Brook. You’re ruthless.”

I shrug, not denying it.

I am ruthless. It’s what makes me a good agent.

I hold out a hand to help him up.

“I want in.” Carson tosses his shirt to the side, coming in front of me, getting into position.

I look at Carson. Luke is bigger, but Carson is older and has more experience.

“You know, Carson, I don’t think Brook is completely immune to being distracted,” Luke muses.

But I keep my eyes focused on Carson.

Of course, I can be distracted. Like right now... I’m very distracted by the fact that both Luke and Carson aren’t wearing shirts. But they’re not the first hot guys I’ve fought.

I don’t do a lot of missions with other Spy School agents, but when I do, I always end up training with them. Mostly to prove that I’m not the weak girl they always think I am. So what if I usually end up sleeping with them after. Training turns me on. But one thing I am good at is focus. At least, when I need to be focused.

Keeping my eyes on Carson, I pull my own top off, throwing it to the side. I’m still wearing a sports bra, but it leaves little to the imagination. And I know Carson has a great imagination.

Carson groans. “Come on. Now that is hardly fair. Is that bra thing even your size? It looks too small.”

I just laugh.

Boys.

They know nothing about bras.

“If I got a size bigger, it wouldn’t support me the way I need.
