VivoCity and HarbourFront Centre

The most interesting thing at the foot of Mount Faber is the VivoCity mall, with a curious fretted white facade that looks like it was cut out of a set of huge false teeth, and housing three good food courts (in particular Food Republic on level 3), a slew of restaurants, a cinema and other amenities; it’s also the main gateway to Sentosa. The red-brick box of a building with the huge chimney to the east (on the left if you’re descending the hill) of the mall is St James Power Station, a bevy of clubs and bars housed in a converted power plant. Further east, the coast is off-limits all the way to Tanjong Pagar as it’s taken up by the Keppel harbour port facilities.

In the other direction on Telok Blangah Road is the HarbourFront Centre, a glorified ferry terminal serving Indonesia’s Riau archipelago, as well as a stop for cable cars between Mount Faber and Sentosa.
