Rod called Katrina on her new phone as she sat in the room watching TV, eating snacks she ordered from the hotel’s in-room menu. She answered with an anxious tone in her voice, “Who is this?” and Rod stated, “It’s me.”

She quickly retorted, “Aren’t you supposed to be more explaining than that?”

Rod then answered, “Yes, well, maybe we should set up some kind of a code.”

Katrina then questioned, “Code?” and Rod explained, “Yeah, like I say ‘apple’ and you say ‘orange’ and that way we know it is us.”

Katrina then asked, “When am I going to see you again?” and Rod responded, “I will be there in the morning.” He then added, “I arrested Gus Lucas, and he is in the Laredo Police Department jail.”

Katrina then, with a very worried expression, replied, “His men will be coming to get me.”

Rod then reassured her, “No, no, he is worried about his own neck right now and not thinking about you. He has no idea of your whereabouts.” Rod then finished with “Calm down. Gus thinks we have one of his henchmen in custody spilling the beans.”

Katrina relaxed and ended with “Please come early.” Rod then turned off his cell.
