Not because they were vacationing, but because they were doing disaster relief in cities and towns that had experienced flooding in the United States. Then they both went to Nigeria. Then Ed went to Sri Lanka, where he cooked meals for the hungry in the middle of rebel fighting. Patty usually travels with him, but Ed told me she doesn’t like sleeping under trucks in the middle of rebel fighting, so she passed on the Sri Lanka trip. Ed told me once, “What else am I going to do with my retirement? I just want to tell as many people about the gospel as I can.”

They have been conquered

by a superior ambition …
