They have big rolls of labels and hand apply them at phenomenal speeds. Then they stick the label on a form. If five people label bananas, they’ve got five rolls of labels being used. At the top of the form they check boxes for the date, the variety, the field that those bananas came from. It’s literally like filling in a multiple-choice exam. There’s only a limited set of values. We know where this packing shed gets their bananas from, and at the end of the day this form gets faxed into us. Our software reads the form, looks at the checkboxes, and reads the barcodes on the labels stuck to the form. From that information, we can figure out all of the labels that were used that day by that farm and assign all that harvest information.
