Chapter Seven
Prey
The air shimmered with excitement as Davis unlocked his truck. Too slowly for his liking, the vehicle acknowledged his presence and allowed him to rip the door open and jump into the cab. Gunning the engine to life, he backed out of the parking lot and turned the wheel toward home.
Where she was waiting.
Davis had been sure the day would never end. Now they could finally begin a perfect evening of debauchery. Worst-case scenario, they would fuck until neither of them could walk.
The bedroom had been their temple since the first time theyâd made love. There, without hesitation, anything he asked for was given. In turn, he fulfilled her wishes like a whip across his back, a willing slave to her sexual whims. Each time they merged was more perfect than the last. Without boundaries, they became one, discovering unexplored realms with every touch. Tonight his passion would be relentless. He planned to take her until she crawled away in mewling exhaustion, begging for a moment of respite. Once she was broken, he would bind her to the bed and find out how close to paradise their tools of pleasure could bring her.
The thoughts of another anniversary drew Davis back to the beginning. He didnât recognize the people they had been anymore, two very different individuals who had just fallen in love. They had not yet achieved a sense of self, a sense of together. If I say or do this, what will she do or say? What will she think? Every conversation and every touch was an adventure. Inexperience guaranteed unpredictable results, impossible to live without.
Sex had been heart-stopping. All his effort had been focused only on getting into bed. Minute by minute, he had no idea what his words or actions would lead to.
Hand holding?
Kissing?
Petting?
Penetration?
Each time he entered her, the new sensations were so overpowering he couldnât even acknowledge the possibility of it becoming better. With the touch of her hands, she stripped away everything around them and sucked him into a single moment. No past and no future, only instantaneous, deep knowledge. Everything was new. Every second was fantastic. Coarse fumblings in cramped cars, camping trips with sleeping bags zipped together, incredible, unending nights when a parent was out of town. Then, with release, everything would crash back to the real again. What did she think of me? Was I good at it or was she disappointed? The driving thoughts always returned. How do I feel that way again? Learning and need renewed itself again while âtogetherâ was being built.
Traffic was light but incessant. Lisaâs pictures were freshly branded on his memory. She had been soaking. Wanting him. She had needed his touch and he hadnât been there. His foot pressed the accelerator harder. With newfound speed he weaved through traffic.
She waited.
Where did the middle years start? Where did they go? Somewhere in the past, newness and adventure started to become rare. They became used to each otherâs presence. Used to the otherâs touch, their sounds and their scents.
