Chapter Twelve

Walking out through the door of the warehouse, Catherine walked across the concrete path to Forrest’s car.

Hurrying round to the passenger door, she stopped and waited for Forrest to reach her. “I want to get Kate out of there, she should be with her friends.”

“You saw Kate tearing that cow apart like an addict looking for her stash.” Forrest leaned against the hood of the car, “Do you really think that’s what she wants? Do you think she wants to risk hurting anyone?”

Catherine remained determined, “Then we get her somewhere safe, away from everyone else. We make sure there’s no one that she can hurt.”

“That leaves us, you and me.” Forrest leaned closer, “I know how close you two were and I will help with whatever you want to do, but I still think this is a bad idea. So how do you want to do this? Because I think the two of us on a full frontal assault will be a trifle foolhardy.”

Opening the car door, Catherine glanced back at him. “I’ll come up with something.”

Standing with her back to the glass of the containment cell, Alexandra did not turn when Kate approached the glass from the other side, her face, hands and clothes still covered in the blood from the ripped apart carcass.

“Are you sure about the action they will take.”

Kate approached the other side of the glass, “There’s no way Cat will leave me here.”

“I hope you’re right.” Alexandra glanced back at the glass, “I’m taking an awfully big risk to give you this chance. You know what will happen if your plan fails.”

Looking at her through the glass, Kate nodded. “It won’t fail. I know Cat too well, we were practically living together for a year. She won’t let me down.”

Sitting in Forrest’s car close to the warehouse, Catherine opened the door when she saw him approaching in the rear view mirror.

Stepping out, she walked to the back of the car and opened the trunk. She looked at him as he placed the two metal cases he was carrying into the boot. “Will those be enough?”

Opening each of the cases to reveal a single Heckler & Koch MP7 in each, Forrest took one of the weapons and pushed the case with the remaining gun closer to Catherine. “These seem to be decent enough people and I’d rather not have to kill any of them if it can be avoided.”

Taking the remaining gun, Catherine nodded. “Let’s get it over with.”

Pausing by the opening leading to the warehouse, Forrest motioned Catherine to stop moving at the sight of a man in overalls walking up and down near the closed door. “Wait here.”

Moving up behind the man, Forrest slammed the gun over the back of his head and caught him when he fell. Pulling the unconscious man aside so he was out of sight, Forrest hurried back to where Catherine was waiting. “Ready?”

She nodded.
