VITAMIN A
This is a hero skin vitamin and you can apply it topically and get it through your food. When it’s applied in a cream form it’s usually better known as retinol and it stimulates the production of new cells. Most experts will tell you that this is the skin vitamin that everyone needs. Foods high in vitamin A include salmon, dairy products, eggs and cod liver oil.
Everyone’s idea of the things they do as their basic maintenance is going to be different. I’m on stage a lot and can often be asked to do events last minute so I like to keep on top of my nails, hair and tan so I don’t have to worry about it. I make it a priority and it’s an essential part of my routine. But it’s basically my job so you may not need as much maintenance as I do!
I find that it also helps when I’m having an off-duty day and don’t want to bother with make-up and the works. If I have my basics in hand I still feel presentable.
I think as women we can be looked down on for going for a manicure or be hard on ourselves for making the time to get our hair done, but we should be making the time to look after ourselves. If it’s not your nails you should do something else – meet a friend for coffee or do a yoga class. If it makes you feel good you should factor it in. If your partner can manage to play golf or go to a match or even get to the barber, you can get your nails done. Guilt free.
Here are my maintenance musts.
