The Metaphorical use of Disability Language in the Old Testament

The Hebrew Bible makes substantial use of disability language metaphorically to express ideals related to Israel’s social condition. While most metaphorical usage is found in the prophetic books, a few law texts provide insight into the idealized shape of life Israel was to experience as Yahweh’s covenant people. This shape involves Yahweh’s divine enablement and a summons to maintain justice toward all persons in or associated with the community.
