SESSION 480 (DELETED)

MAY 7, 1969 9:08 PM WEDNESDAY

(Jane and I sat for the session as usual on Monday, May 5, but it was not held. Jane at session time was in an extremely relaxed state, and she could not bring Seth through, although we waited until 10 PM.

(Tam Mossman and his fiancée Eve had been our guests over the past weekend, May 2—4; he had heartily approved the work Jane has completed on the Seth book and we thought that this belief might have something to do with Jane’s very relaxed state. Jane said no conscious suggestions, that she was aware of, had been involved today or this evening. Tam is Jane’s editor at Prentice-Hall, Inc.

(Jane said the sensations were “like a loss of tension,” and I thought it was a general release from her symptoms, at least temporarily, plus a dissociated state. While sitting in the usual rocking chair she uses during sessions, Jane said that at times she felt as though she were outside the house, enjoying the spring air, grass, flowers, etc. She told me that at various times Seth was around during the evening while we waited, but never did come through.

(Jane experienced a remarkable release from symptoms, but even so her neck was not fully released, as she determined by testing. She had done some yoga this afternoon, but she didn’t think this had anything to do with the present state.

(The next morning, we must note, the symptoms had returned; Jane was tight and stiff, though as the day wore on they lessened.

(The session on Wednesday was held as usual, and of course we asked Seth for an explanation of Monday’s events.)

Good evening.

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

Now. If our friend feels fully productive, exuberant and free to use his abilities, then he will be entirely healthy.

He has overemphasized limitations in the past, of all kinds, and this has led him to deny many of his own positive characteristics—this concentration upon the negative. Now some of this he picked up from you, and then exaggerated. Much of this attitude in passing now.

I suggest however that you continue your own prayer periods, as you have been doing them. Ruburt during his period should imagine feelings of exuberance, energy, and inspiration, general feelings of release and freedom. Let him play a game with himself however as to how long he can honestly forget (underlined) his symptoms in daily activity. Do not give them extra energy through concentration.

In his prayer periods emphasize that his full attention can go into his work and creative endeavors. This automatically takes energy away from the symptoms.

(“Have the prayer sessions been doing any good?”)

They have indeed. Now give me a moment, (pause) , and a long moment. (Pause.) Concentration should not be upon feeling well enough in the morning to do something he wants to do. It should be upon the thing he wants to do, and away from the physical condition. When he feels his full enthusiasm bubbling up in his work he will not need to give himself suggestions that he will feel well in the morning.
