The Ins and Outs of the Display Dock

When I say “ins and out”, of course I mean the inputs and outputs shown here:

In a nutshell, you plug your phone into one side of the Display Dock (not shown) and everything else to the other side (as shown). The things you can plug into the Display Dock include a charger (to power the dock and charge the attached phone via USB), a “big screen” TV (via HDMI or DisplayPort cables), a full-size keyboard (via USB), a mouse (via USB), a mass storage device (via USB), and potentially other USB peripherals.

With the Display Dock or similar adapter (see next section) correctly connected, and once you have opened the Continuum app on your phone, the attached screen should show a sample display and the phone should invite you to tap the screen if this is indeed what you see. Actually, I found it necessary to launch the Continuum app and then physically connect the phone in order to make this work.
