Samson drove the Cadillac through town, trying to stay away from the main street. He didn't want to draw too much attention. The workers would be starting on Pa-Rudyâs in the morning, and he didn't want Rebeccaâs secrets to be revealed too soon. Sheâd sent her new general and Charlie on a mission to gauge Randyâs worthiness. Samson hoped heâd completed it satisfactorily.
He, on the other hand, was to meet Samantha in the bar, and they would deliver the artifact together. All seemed to be working perfectly. But as he knew, that could all change. There were too many loose variables. Sage was still a presence along with Allen. If he were to have another go at them, he would prevail. He was under no illusion to think they wouldn't show again.
He turned onto state Route 8 and sped up. A few minutes later, he pulled into the parking lot at Pa-Rudyâs. The lot was bare except for Samantha's car, the result of the sign in front stating they were closed for renovations. He and Samantha would be putting up signs and advertising on social media for the big party to come, the grand re-opening of Pa-Rudyâs bar, now under new management. It would be a party like none other, and the guests would never want to leave. So much to do, but theyâd be ready when the time came.
He parked the car and grabbed the artifact. The steps creaked under his weight as he walked onto the deck. He would ask the workers to shore those up, as there would be throngs of people treading them soon.
The light in the office behind the bar was on, and he eased through the door opening. Samantha wasn't alone. Another woman was with her, her head buried in the middle of Samanthaâs outstretched legs. They were both naked. Samantha was in the throes of passion, audibly groaning, her hands massaging the other womanâs hair.
There was a time this would have excited him, back when he was a young human male. Only Rebecca excited him now. Doing her bidding was what he lived for. Samantha, with all her desires, reminded him of another general he knew. Gone too soon.
He waited by the door for a moment until Samantha cried out and then relaxed. He cleared his throat while reaching into his pocket and producing his inhaler. Taking a puff, it popped as it left his lips.
Samantha and the girl stared at him.
âHey, Samson. Howâs it going? This is Trish.â
Trish rose to stand, wiping her mouth as she did. âPleased to meet you.â Then she looked at Samantha. âYou didn't tell me weâd have others joining.â
Samson chuckled. âNo, Iâm not interested in your sexcipades. I only have eyes for one. You can leave us though. We have business.â
Trish gathered her clothes and stepped toward him. She reached her hand to his crotch and squeezed. âToo bad. I wouldn't mind having something solid to finish with.â She smiled and strolled out of the office.
Samson watched as she left, then turned to Samantha.
