Oberschopfheimers used cattle for farming; they were more practical than horses because they also gave milk.

When villagers look down from the grape area above Oberschopfheim, they see the entire village before them.

Catholic customs and celebrations were for many Oberschopfheimers the brightest and most joyous part of village life. In 1964, the woman on the left dressed in this traditional costume to attend a celebration at church. The woman on the right is wearing everyday clothes. Note the large, rough hands from hard work.
