A long shower while his parents enjoyed their morning coffee on the porch went a long way to relieving some of his tension. Brandon decided he couldnât help Amy, at least not like she wanted him to. He wanted to help her, but what she asked was too much. It was crazy. Heâd spent most of the walk to her house figuring out what he was going to say. Heâd let her down easy, and hopefully, they could still be friends. They still might even have sex.
âHey.â
Brandon looked up. His eyes found Amy walking toward him. His eyes washed over the coral bikini top clinging to Amyâs tanned skin, and his resolve disintegrated. She offered up a wave and smiled at him, and he knew heâd burn down the world if she asked him to.
âGood morning,â she said as he approached. She pressed her body to his and stretched onto her toes, kissing his lips eagerly. âI couldnât stop thinking about you last night.â
âMe too,â he replied, dropping his eyes to the red dirt road at their feet. She was the only female other than his mother to ever see him naked, and she was the first live person heâd ever seen naked.
âDo you still like me?â she asked shyly as they began to walk.
Brandon nodded. âOf course.â
Amy smiled and squeezed his hand. âGood, because I think I fell in love with you last night.â
Brandon nodded in agreement. âMe too.â He probably fell for her the day they went swimming, but he didnât see the need to reveal that.
âDo you think Iâm crazy?â she asked, swinging their hands between them.
Brandon shook his head.
âItâs real, you know.â
Brandon nodded and signed, âI know,â with his free hand.
âYour grandmother knew too.â
Brandon nodded again. He listened to the sound of the gravel beneath their feet as they walked in silence, replaying the conversation heâd had with his father in his mind.
âI guess the only question is whether or not youâll help me.â
Brandon ran his free hand through his hair, then sighed, âIâll help.â
âI know it sounds like a terrible thing, but it really isnât. Iâve racked my brain, Brandon. It might be the only way to save my mom. Sheâs dying.â
Brandon raised his hand to sign something but dropped it back to his side.
âYouâll see. Just you wait. Youâll see.â Amy looked at him and shook her head. âWhat do I have to do to convince you?â she asked.
Brandon swallowed hard but gave no response.
âDo you believe me?â
He nodded.
âDo you believe Iâll do what I said?â
He nodded again but was less sure.
She put a hand under his chin and turned his face to hers. âIâll do anything you want me to.â One of her eyebrows arched slightly, and a seductive grin slid across her lips. âAnything.â
A smile slipped across his lips as his body erupted with desire, aching for her. His eyes narrowed as a thought occurred to him. If he helped her, he could do anything he wanted, whether she wanted to or not.
