Although there are a hundred kinds of stances, they all exist for the same purpose: to defeat the opponent.
The above, at its extreme, is the shuji shuriken.2
Though you may teach or learn a hundred postures or myriad techniques, the shuji shuriken alone is considered to be the eye of one’s actions. Though both you and your opponent may know a hundred different stances, the match itself will be brought to an end by using the shuji shuriken. Because this is a secret tradition, we do not write the word down with its true Chinese characters, but write characters that sound the same.
