"Thank God."

"And your—"

"Don't!" Louie and I shrieked in unison.

Dad grinned.

Marcella palmed her face. Louie and I just laughed.

"This is why I carry drums everywhere," my brother told me. "He always has to go there."

We all started to feel even better when we saw the heaped plates arriving at our table.

"So none of us will be talking to her," Dad suddenly said.

We all looked at each other.

"I'll drink to that." I lifted my water glass. We all clinked and my cell phone rang. It was Kord. I'd call him back. Right now, I had my family to focus on and some teriyaki chicken that had my name all over its glazed sauce.
