Ren knew he had to move fast. Because Kyle would certainly end up telling somebody. Well, today was Friday, wasn’t it? He checked his watch. And tomorrow was the second Saturday. He drove out to the main road, parked, and hiked the hundred yards up to the mound of boulders where everyone went to get a cell signal. He called Zach’s.

“Do you have a private room I can reserve for a larger party?” he said to the chipper woman who answered the phone.

“Sure,” she said. “We can seat up to thirty. No smoking, though.”

“No smoking?”

“The cigar club booked it last year and we had to close down for two days.”

“Jeez.”

“I know! Were you thinking tonight?”

“I was thinking tomorrow.”

“Lunch or dinner?”

“Dinner.”

“Sorry, it’s booked at seven. Wanna try lunch?”

“No that’s okay, it’s an evening meeting. Maybe next month.”

“First or third Saturday works!” she said.

“Okay, thanks.”
