After having endured terrible torture, Dietisalvi finally revealed everything Formosus wanted to know. The sorcerer did own a grimoire that contained a ritual, the spell Aeternal aevum orbis. However, frightened by its possible effects, Dietisalvi had never dared cast it. Forced by Formosus, who alternated menaces and promises, the warlock cast the spell upon the bishop. Immediately after that, Formosus had Dietisalvi murdered, both to protect his secret and to prevent him from casting a counterspell.
