Sheehan frowned. “Scam? What kind of scam?”

“Well, he’s got loads of detailed financial and other personal information gathered on different people. A lot of the personal stuff seems to deal with the sort of preferences these people have for members of the opposite sex. And there are pages of notes on setting up dating apps. I didn’t have time to get much of a look at it, but it’s all very suspicious.”

“Log them and get the papers to Stewart ASAP. Anything else?”

“You’re not going to believe it.”

“Try me.”

“There’s an envelope with more of those photographs.”

“Good grief!”

“It gets worse. These photographs show Malone and his partner, Shaw, both assaulting some unfortunate young woman in a hotel room. The abuse looks severe.”

Sheehan grimaced. “You’re sure the other guy’s Shaw?”

“Yeh. I’ve seen him in court a few times. It’s definitely Shaw.”

Sheehan shook his head, tight-lipped. He glanced at Stewart. “We’ll need to have a word with Shaw the minute he comes in.”

Stewart nodded.

“There’s one other thing,” Larkin said, handing Sheehan a small plastic evidence bag. “We found this.”

Sheehan peered at the object through the plastic, moving it around as he studied it. It was a small piece of hard, black rubber, u-shaped, about two centimetres square. There was a small metal spike sticking out of the middle of it. “What is it?

Larkin shrugged. “No idea.”

Sheehan handed the bag to Stewart, who had been craning forward to see it. After a quick look, she grinned and started chuckling.
