Chapter 15: A King and His General

----- Lutz -----

"And … done!" I hold up a light green spear.

From just looking at it, anyone can tell this weapon is special. No metal gives off the same shine as adamantium, and when mixed with orichalcum, it becomes an unmistakable shade of green that embodies the highest class of equipment.

Stepping back from the crafting table, I give my body a nice stretch. With my obscenely high physical attributes, something like an hour or so spent heating and hammering this legendary-class spear into a proper form is nothing to me, but stretching still feels good, no matter what kind of shape a person is in.

The door in front of me opens, and King Kuro steps into the forge. In stories, these kinds of timings are always extremely convenient, where the person needed to move the scene forward just happens to walk in at the perfect time.

But in this case, there was no happenstance about it since I sent him a telepathic message telling him that his spear was ready. If there was anything I could label convenient, it'd be how quickly he arrived. Though that's likely because he understands just how important it is to go into battle fully equipped.

"Almost noon," Kuro says. "You certainly cut it close."

"Just makes it more dramatic, right? No harm in that. Anyway…" I motion to the spear laid out on the table. "I managed to get it mostly ready in time."

"Mostly? Is the weapon missing something?"

"Don't worry about it. All the important bits are finished. Sure, I wanted to add some sagestone to it, but I didn't have the time to completely revamp this forge to make it capable of smelting it. I'm sure you'll do just fine with the spear as it is."

King Kuro lets out a sigh. He's an intelligent and contemplative man, allowing him to react to nearly any situation with an appropriate response. That helped a lot when I teleported in with his daughter in tow.

He is a bit rigid, however. I guess that's to be expected of royalty, since they have to deal with so many formalities, but it means he has a hard time dealing with people who are outside his command.

Come to think of it, I haven't even seen him crack a smile this entire time.

Dropping that line of thought, I bring out several more items and place them on the table. A couple rings, a pair of boots, and a shirt to name a few. It's nearly a whole set of equipment, and each one radiates a powerful mana.

But in terms of pure strength, the only item other than the spear that really sticks out is the shirt. It has a few embroideries, but in terms of elegance, it can be considered lacking when compared to something a powerful noble would wear.

That's not much of a problem, though. It's technically an undershirt, meant to be worn beneath a highly decorated coat or robe. Since it won't be seen, even someone like a king can wear it without damaging their public image.
