2 Interview with a grassroots ecological activist CSO with offices both in Chisinau and Tiraspol, Chisinau, June 2009. It is among the oldest (active since 1992) and most established environmental NGOs in Moldova and has been active in shaping the legal framework on CSOs in Moldova. It groups together 55 smaller NGOs from Moldova and Transnistria and it can be considered a pioneer in bringing activists of both banks of the Nistru river together, in particular to address ecological issues related to the Nistru river.
3 It is fairly easy to set up an NGO in Moldova, which also explains the mushrooming of such organizations in search of grants.
