Asael

A huge waterfall now stood in the centre of the clearing, its water shimmering with a rainbow of colours glistening though it.

Emrys peered at me, his head tilted back but as Cerberus ran over to him, his face changed into a large smile. Cerberus sniffed his feet then followed Eva, I was mesmerized by the ornate stone water feature.

Hands tucked into his cloak, Emrys rolled his lips as he eyed me, stepping over to me, then suddenly in a great dramatic gesture he pulled a golden tipped, pure white feather from his cloak.

“Ah! This will draw that rascal Asael here, what do you think?”

I grimaced. Taking a feather from an angel, in human terms it’s like having a piece of hair. Usually not used for good.

“I’m guessing that’s Asael’s, that he doesn’t know you have it, and I really want to know how you got it?”

He leaned into me, “No, you do not want to know how I came by this. I personally didn’t steal it, if that’s where your mind is wandering. And no, Asael probably doesn’t know I have it. And a good job too. It will help summon him.” He brushed the feather through his fingers.

Palm splayed, I indicated to the fountain, “Why all this? And,” I narrowed my eyes, “Who else’s feathers do you have? Mine?”

“Tst! You have no feathers and I’m not that old, Lucifer. Never you mind. A druid’s secrets are his own. The fountain is to purify the area, the cleansing water, obviously blasted with magic. Your Eva helped with that, and Luke. I suggest you add one drop of your celestials’ blood, to add to the energy. That way, your slight influence will soak into Asael as soon as he lands here. It will be subtle, molecules in the air. Like a slight breeze on a hit day. But just one drop. Anymore he’ll sense it and leave as quick as he came. We have a few tricks up our sleeve, Lucifer. You wait and see.” He started to stride off, then turned and eyed me over, his voice stern. “No cockiness, but then again don’t be too gracious. A fine balance from you is need. He needs to see the angel, the remorse. He’s finicky is Asael. One wrong word...”

“What the hell is finicky?”

“Tetchy. Fussy, fastidious. You really need to catch up Lucifer!”

I rolled my eyes. He sounded like a moron.

“I will do my best Emrys, that is all I can do.”

Again, he narrowed his eyes, “Yes. That’s what I feared!”

As he wandered to Eva he hummed, I turned to find Luke. “Hey, how you feeling?”

“Tense Luke, if I’m honest. I guess I’d better spill some blood. What are you doing?”

“Low level spell-casting Lucifer. Just trying to keep the place ambient. You do your bloodletting, I think the old man wants to summon Asael soon.”

Shouting from over the glade, Emrys pointed to Luke, “I heard that Casanova! I may be old, but at least I’m no fool!”

I laughed. “He’s never going to let that go.
