CHAPTER SIX

Chuck

I wake up and swear I am in heaven. Ivy has her head on my chest, my arm is wrapped around her shoulder and our legs are intertwined like a pretzel. It was at this moment that I realized that I wanted to wake up with her every morning. I have no idea what we are going to do once this case is over or even how she feels about me, but I want to be with her. I am going to do everything that I can to make sure she is in my life, always.

She stirs, and I kiss the top of her head.

“Good morning beautiful,” I tell her.

“Good morning to you to!” she replied.

“After we shower, I will go make us breakfast,” I said.

“Sounds good and by ‘we’, do you mean you are going to take a shower with me?” she said with a teasing look in her eyes.

Laughing I said, “If that look means what I think it is, then I will absolutely join you in the shower!”

After we ate breakfast, I took her back to the hotel so that she could change and get ready.

At 1600 we all meet at the station, including the Seals and Bounty partners and their Seal friend Wyatt.

We all decide what roles and where we are going to be walking, seating, etc inside the botanical gardens. A few of the guys were even pretending to be homeless and sleep on benches.

Nothing and no one was suspicious. Then at 0500 we got the call that there had been another murder. This one was dumped about four miles outside of city on the same road. The officers have already talked to her husband and found out that she goes running every morning in the park in the center of the city at 0400. This meant that after he didn’t get away with Carol, he had changed up his hunting ground.

We split up. Half of us went to the dumping site and the others went to the park to look for evidence.

We needed another game plan.

After going to the sites, we all went to shower, eat and take naps before meeting back at the station at 1730 to discuss tonight’s game plan.

Ivy left with me, and we stopped by her hotel room, and she packed an overnight back and headed back to my house. We took a shower together and ordered in Chinese food before passing out to take a nap.

With everything going on with the case it is hard for me to admit that I am the happiest I have ever been in my life.
