Chapter 30
Lauren
This is going to happen. Fucking. Finally.
We return to the school, unload the equipment, and make sure the kids have all made it back and are on their way home. Then Taylor hops in with me to come help me unload all my stuff.
Yeah. Thatâs a weak excuse. We both know why heâs coming over and itâs not to help me unpack the meager supplies I brought.
Taylor and I donât say a single word while I drive to my house. My hands tremble as I grip the steering wheel. I take one and rub it against my thigh, trying to soothe my nerves, my excitement.
A warm hand envelops mine, giving it a squeeze.
I pull into the alley and press the remote for my garage door. I take a quick look around as we pull in, making sure no unusual vehicles or people are milling about, just in case.
Taylor makes it to me quickly, clasps my hand in his, and looks down at me, warmth and contentment in his gaze.
We race up the walking path from my garage to the back of the house. I unlock it with uncooperative hands, fingers that want nothing to do with anything but Taylorâs skin. The back door closes with a click behind him, and then Iâm spun around and pressed against it.
Jesus. Yes!
âThis is happening.â Iâm not sure if heâs telling me or asking.
I nod as I tip my chin up, offering him my mouth.
âLauren,â his voice rasps in warning.
I blink at him. What? What did I miss? Why hasnât the kissing started yet?
âDonât pout. I need to know if this is happening. If your man-hiatus is over.â
âYes. Over. Kiss me.â
I reach up and capture his lips, my teeth scraping against his upper lip in impatience.
In the back of my mind, I wonder if maybe Iâm being reckless. Has Father given up? Will Andrew move on like he should have two years ago?
Is it safe to be with Taylor, or am I putting him at risk?
They donât ambush me at board meetings anymore.
Theyâve backed off.
His tongue enters my mouth and nothing else matters. I stroke mine against his, changing the angle of our kiss, my lips pillowing against his as I suck his tongue with vigor.
He groans, pulls my hips so I crash into him, then grinds himself against my stomach. My mouth drops open motionless as he continues kissing me.
âWhat the hell are you packing, Bandit?â
Taylor moves to press wet kisses along my jaw and then sucks at my neck, at spots I didnât know were erogenous. My eyes are rolling to the back of my head and my body noticeably shivers.
âIs that a compliment, Chicken?â
âIt is unless it doesnât fit.â
He chuckles and swivels me around. His lips kiss my neck, and his fingers squeeze my hips, and before moving up to pull at the hair tie in my camping messy bun.
Oh god, I probably smell terrible!
âStop thinking so damn hard.â He grips my hair in his fist, jerking my face up to his as his other hand grabs my right ass cheek and lifts it slightly.
