Fifi never showed up last night, and though I worry for her, I know she can take care of herself. It’s more that, now that the adrenaline of the day before has worn off, I’m forced to accept that someone has once again tried to hurt me. And what's worse is that I don’t even know if it’s the same person, or if I’ve somehow had the misfortune of angering another person to the extent that they’d go through all this trouble just to get rid of me.

Obeying Fifi, none of the guys left the night before, which made my already cramped dorm room full to the max. Satine and I had shared her bed, while the triplets somehow managed to squeeze onto one of theirs. I’m not sure how they managed that, maybe some type of Hellhound ability, but it ensured the guys all had a place to sleep. Yet, even surrounded by so many powerful friends, I awoke shaking in the middle of the night as fear clutched my heart and stole my breath. My shaking startled Satine, and she held me tightly in her arms, rocking me until my exhaustion finally grew too strong, and I passed out.

“Rhia, did you hear me?” Gavril asks, and I look up from the book I’ve been trying to read all morning. I’ve read the same page at least five times now, and still couldn't tell what it’s about, so I set it aside and meet his concerned grey eyes.

“Sorry, Gav. What were you saying?” I ask with a yawn, the sleepless night leaving my body tired.

“I was just asking what you wanted to eat. Me and the guys are going to head to the cafeteria and grab some food for us. Anything you want in particular?” he asks, and I shake my head, stomach still feeling too uneasy to put much thought into eating.

“No, but if you see Fifi, can you tell her to call me back? I’ve called and texted her, but she’s not returning any of them. I know she’ll be okay, but still…”

Gavril leans forward and meets my gaze since I’ve dropped it to stare into my hands, worry for Fifi only adding to my fatigue.

"I promise, if I see her, I'll have her call. We'll be back in a few minutes. Why don't you try to grab a few minutes of sleep while we're gone? No telling how long they'll keep us shut up in here, so might as well take advantage of it."

I nod, knowing he’s right, and he kisses my cheek before going to stand with Declan and Maksim at the door. Both are already staring at me, brows furrowed, and I smile to show that I’m all right. When that doesn’t seem to convince them, I cross my eyes and stick out my tongue. That makes them laugh.

“Get some sleep, Rhia. We’ll be back soon,” Maksim orders, and I blow him a kiss that makes a small smile ghost across his lips.

“Bye, Rhia. Maybe I’ll find you a ninja cookie while I’m gone,” Declan adds, and I giggle.
