The Corridor of Ministry

Can any good thing come out of Roxbury? Yes: in the month of December, 1973, I was ordained a Christian minister. I was granted my first assignment as the minister of youth at the historic Twelfth Baptist Church in Roxbury, Massachusetts. Under the pastoral leadership of Dr. Michael E. Haynes, I was afforded a plethora of invaluable opportunities in which I could exercise my teaching gifts, expand my leadership abilities, and minister to people of all ethnic backgrounds, and socio-political and religious persuasions. To serve in a ministerial capacity for ten years in my birth community was an unmeritorious privilege and blessing. While serving in my home community, each challenging experience was preparing me for the new sequential corridors that were to come in the city of Brockton, Massachusetts and surrounding communities.
