And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” (Isaiah 6:3)

When you think about God, what images come to mind? I picture Jesus with a lamb draped around his shoulders, because that is the painting that hung in my grandparents’ house. For some people, the image might be Jesus hanging on a cross, especially like it’s shown in a lot of churches. The perfect Son of God on the cross for our sins is a tragic and beautiful image of what true love looks like.

There is another way to picture Jesus: as he is now, no longer hurt and hanging on a cross but healed, whole, and sitting on a throne. In chapter 6 of Isaiah, the prophet reveals his vision of the Lord being praised. The train of Jesus’ robe fills the temple, and angels fly above him proclaiming, “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”

Don’t accept a low, small view of God. He is so much better than our best thoughts. He is a shepherd tending to his sheep, a King over all the earth, a close daddy, a Savior for the entire world. He knows praise and sacrifice, joy and sorrow, temptation and victory. He is higher, closer, and more than we could ever dream.

That means you can take heart, have joy, and be confident, because your Father is wiser, more gracious, and more powerful than anything you can imagine.
