Phase Two: The Venture

At some point, the dream has to be realized in action if there is to be an organization. To bring the organization into existence in that sense takes Extraversion and Judging: the former because the essential dream has to come out into the world, and the latter because it has to take some definite form and identity. The characteristic shape of the venture, therefore, is E—J.

If the original I—P was too strong, it is likely to be one of those situations where “it was a great idea, but we could never quite get it off the drawing board.” The world is full of such pipe dreams. If the original I—P is a little less strong, the organization may well come into being but be too weakly rooted in the real world to last. “We never attracted enough customers,” they say, or, “We never quite figured out what we were—we tried to be all things to all people.” The world is full of those false starts, too.
