Chapter twenty-five

Fact and Fiction

Sia

The sun’s light warmed her bare skin while she lay tangled up in Orion. It had taken convincing, and she had to threaten not to let him taste her again, but he had finally relented and let her reciprocate his attention. In sleep, he was more relaxed than she had ever seen him. His body, gloriously naked, was spread out with the blanket only covering part of him. One arm was thrown over his head while the other held her tight against him. Despite the fact that she was already as close as she could get, she wiggled her body closer and wrapped her leg around his. Not even a fluttering of recognition reached his face, smoothed from lines of worry and tension. It felt like a privilege to see him this way.

Last night had been a dream. One she thought she might never have, but exceeded her every expectation. They had touched and explored each other long until the sunrise began turning the sky a beautiful pink. It was hard to say what her favorite had been. Of course, his mouth and tongue—it drew a shiver from her. Who knew beneath that stoic exterior there was so much—well, just so much. If she had to choose, it would be how it felt when he called her name with her mouth around him. Truth be told, she had been nervous, but he had been patient and willing with her. With him in her mouth, she had felt more powerful than she ever had in her life.

Yet right now was the most peace she had found since she began loving him. The thought was a ripple in her mind, leading her back to Orion telling her that he loved her. They were words she had longed to hear, but once they were said, she had buckled under the fear that came with it. Of course, she loved him. She had known it for a while, but the way he had seemingly found himself last night as the crowd cheered for his perceived defiance wore away at her happiness. It was hard to confess to love when panic and fear whispered that they would tear him away from her.

It was enough to make her heart start beating faster and fracture the peace she had felt. The open balcony overlooked the city of Athens, and the noises from the street were loud and intrusive, but as she stared at Orion, she found only one thing mattered. He had insisted that they had time no matter what happened and that he wouldn’t let her rush into giving all of herself to him yet, but maybe under the sun’s light, he would change his mind.

It was just like him to worry about her regretting him, but he should have known she could never. Her thighs ached with a burning need as she thought about what it would be like to take him into her. How he would fit inside her and what it would be like to ride him and make him come beneath her.
