SOLUTION

Solution is a rubber cement tyre adhesive. It consists of rubber granulate that has been diluted (hence the word ‘solution’) in benzine and toluene. Toluene is the active substance in glue sniffing. It is most definitely not good for you.

LATEX

If you’re in the middle of your puncture repair and you can’t make the patch stick, there is a drastic remedy. You can buy small bottles of latex, with a pointed spout that you can use to squirt the latex into the valve of the inner tube. The latex will fill the hole from the inside, and you can re-inflate the tyre. Naturally, this doesn’t work for large holes and burst tyres.
