The Art of the Partnership

In any partnership, it’s important to recognize the role of each partner. When looking at an arts partnership, I like to view it as a relationship among three distinct groups: the arts organization, the corporate partner, and their audiences. For the partnership to be a true success, all of these groups need to be taken into consideration. For the partnership to occur, the conversation of the “proposal” from the arts group has to shift to an actual “marriage” between for-profit culture and non-profit culture. In other words, what’s in it for both parties?

From the corporate partner viewpoint, it becomes associated with the cultural asset that is the arts organization. This holds more weight that many arts groups may realize, especially with millennials and Generation Z.
