These kinds of horses also don’t wear everything on their sleeve so are harder to read. Like any horse, there are occasions when Jack gets spooked or worried, and it seems like it came come out of nowhere. He does show it, but it’s not right in front of you. Horses like this can become very expressive and engaged with the right type of training. I will often advise people who have a horse like Jack to ask for only a short session, get high respect, and give a big reward right away. A lot of my training sessions with Jack at liberty last 15 minutes maximum. If I do it like this, he comes back into the next session lively and ready.
