Chassis 663T004 and 005 were built on 24 October 1930 and despatched to English Electric on 28 October and 4 November respectively. They were delivered to Walsall Corporation on 8 May and 1 June 1931. DH 8312 is 663T005. (Photograph: AEC, Author’s collection)

Replacing an existing tramway service in the area around Kingston upon Thames, a new 17-mile trolleybus system was inaugurated by the London United Traction Company on 16 May 1931. Sixty Type 663T trolleybuses, 663T006–065, with fifty-six-seat bodies built by the Union Construction Company, were built to service the operation. MG 186 is 663T040.
