Chapter Twelve ~ Another challenge.

The four young men at table 77 were charming when I delivered their first round of drinks, but during the conversation, their rowdy natures came to the fore. Three young white guys and a black lad bucked the trend of the other tables, for they were considerably younger than most of the other members. I avoided an offer because my watch buzzed, thus giving me the perfect excuse to return to the bar.

Unexpectedly, the lads had bought a drink for me which Jack had placed on my tray with the other four glasses

“Look who’s coming. Our favourite waitress!” James, who was sitting at the far end of the table declared.

They had fired several personal questions at me during my first visit, so I thought that I would ask a few of my own to kill some time. They were better company, in my opinion, than some of the older clientele. “Guys, let me hand out the drinks before you try and distract me,” I said the moment I arrived.

“Teri, you’re a great waitress,” Wesley said as I placed a pint of lager in front of the black lad. “You’re the one distracting us with your sweet titties spilling in our faces.” He leant forward as if he was threatening to kiss them.

“Wesley, I think the drink has gone to your head.”

“Why aren’t your nipples on the menu, Teri?” Cade, the lad sitting next to him asked.

“Because they’re inedible,” I replied. All four lads laughed.

“Chewable, I bet,” James said as I placed his drink in front of him.

Rory, sitting on James’ right, laughed but didn’t make a comment. I deduced from my first visit that he was a little more reserved than the other three.

“Who do I thank for the drink?” I asked.

“We all pitched in,” James said.

“It was Rory’s idea,” Wesley added.

“Well, I may never see you again, so Merry Christmas to all of you.” I was looking at Rory as I spoke and suddenly realized that I liked the look of the sandy haired young man. I noticed his bright blue eyes for the first time and his slightly crooked smile that was kind of cute.

All four lads raised their glasses and wished me a merry Christmas. No sooner had James put his glass down, he pulled his wallet out. “Teri, you rushed off last time before I had a chance to make you an offer.”

I put my hand on top of his. “Oh, don’t spoil the fun, James.”

He paused long enough for Rori to say something. “We don’t want to spoil anything, Teri.”

I removed my hand and glanced around the quartet. I was fairly sure that the lads were a competitive bunch and were probably trying to outscore each other by making offers to waitresses. If I was right, it was another layer of male chauvinism, considering they could look at my bare tits and butt cheeks free of charge.

“Okay, tell me how you four know each other,” I said.

“We went to the same private school and were students at Oxford,” Rory explained.
