I cannot beat my teammate because we have an important game tomorrow. I cannot tear him limb from limb. That would upset Coach. I cannot, in fact, dismember him in any way. I cannot castrate my teammate because that would make it hard for him to skate. I cannot burn any of his digits...

While I cleaned the kitchen and ordered a pizza—because my dinner was destroyed—the anger stewed, festered, and threatened to explode in every direction. Then, for the next hour, while I sat in the dark waiting for Sergei to return, it cooled, but remained equally as deadly. I texted him and asked him if he was with her, and he had the gall to act like he didn’t know what I was referring to.

I was thinking these murderous thoughts about Sergei, as it hurt more to think of Elise. I’d texted her a simple,

JIMMY TOLD ME YOU LEFT WITH SERGEI????

It took her an hour to reply to that with,

YEAH.
