The vision hits her hard, like a shot gun blast to the head. The prophet cries out, stumbles, as she reaches up and presses her palms to her temples.

“Sister?” A voice calls out filled with concern.

She waives her hand as if to say she’s alright then stumbles to a chair and sinks down. Nausea wells up in her stomach as the images flash before her like streaks of lightening crashing through the sky, each one so bright a temporary blindness follows. A new king arises golden and powerful beyond measure, his queen by his side. War is waged. An old earth in ruins. A river of blood. Then peace. Finally peace for their kind. A new city filled with the sons of God ruling as they were meant to over man. All will bow before them. The image fades. Before she can catch her breath another image flashes before her. Darkness, heartbreak. The sons of God lurking in the shadows. Always lurking. Serving man. Bowing their knee. Scraping. Never free. Fighting. Always fighting for the humans. For what. No gratitude. No love. Their blood fills the streets. The yoke is heavy. The burden always theirs to bare. Never free. Never.

“No.” She sobs covering her face with her hands. “This cannot be.”

We can stop this. It does not have to be. We can have the new world. The words fill her head as if someone were standing next to her, whispering into her ear.

“How? Tell me?” Her voice is choked. Trembling.

A sacrifice. There must be a sacrifice of blood to seal the covenant. Tell her. Tell her what you have seen. Tell her the truth so that we may be free and I will grant you a place by my side in the new kingdom.

The prophet nods to no one. “I will. I swear it.”
