If your focus has always been on your professional life and you havenât devoted much time and much thought to your personal life, it can be a more challenging transition to retirement, because you may not know exactly what you want to do.
No matter what your personal plans may be for retirement, it is essential for you to continue seeing all of your doctors on a regular basis. While this may seem like an obvious suggestion, having reminders during teaching, and even during retirement, will be an assurance to you and to your loved ones that your health is safeguarded. If and when there is a need for a referral to another doctor, it is best to alleviate any health issues so that you can continue having a productive, enjoyable life after retirement, all of which you so justly deserve.
When you have no specific plans for your future retired life, it can be such a mental shock, if you will, that it may actually create a mental and emotional strain. In fact, there are people who do absolutely nothing who mindlessly go into retirement with no goals whatsoever. They can easily become bored with no a regular schedule, even if it is for fun, when they can afford it. They may easily become depressed. They may easily become so bored and so depressed that they need psychological help. They may become unhappy and suicidal. They may unfortunately contract dementia or Alzheimerâs more quickly.
In other words, the negative ramifications of not being able to fill the void in your time during retirement can be very significant and can even be heartbreaking for yourself and for all concerned. It is thus important to have a purpose, be it to relax one day, go to a state or national park the next day, or anything else that allows you to feel that you can connect not only with yourself, but also with others.
When you have retired and are now well rested, there can be a point at which you wish to continue being an inspiration to others of whatever age-group or groups you desire. You may even find yourself reaching out to want to help in any number of possible ways.
Now, you have the opportunity to do something different. You too can become inspired that much more by what you choose to do in your personal life. The only difference is that you are not set to follow the schoolâs schedule. It is your schedule. You can inspire in different ways through your preferred activities. You can inspire others in different ways at your leisure. You ultimately will feel that your life is not a sedentary one, but an
