CHAPTER 11

Duncan entered the tepee, saw her and stopped, his heart hammered in his chest.

So beautiful.

Her glorious hair, shining in the firelight. Her skin, shimmering with the flames’ warm glow. His body reacted and he groaned, just looking at her. He wanted to touch her, needed to feel the passion he’d only glimpsed before.

He wanted her.

All of her.

Hardening, almost painfully, at the thought of touching her soft skin and wrapping himself in her beautiful hair, he tried to reign in his randy body. He didn’t love her the way she wanted. But he wanted her and cared for her. That would be enough. It had to be enough because he’d never let her go. He moved forward, away from the entrance and started to remove his clothes.

Catherine stared up at him until she realized what he was doing. Suddenly shy, she looked down at her hands lying in her lap and said, “Duncan, I don’t know if you should be doing that. Much as I love White Buffalo and his people, we’re not truly married. The marriage would never be recognized back home.”

Duncan removed his shirt, then knelt in front of her and reached out, gathering her silky hair in his hand. Moving slowly, caressing as he went, his hand slid along her jaw until he could lift her chin, forcing her to look at him. “Cat, you are my wife now. We are married. Just because the ceremony was not performed by a preacher doesn’t make it any less binding to me. I’m your husband and you’re my wife. I told you I’d do my best not to hurt you. Do you trust me?”

“Yes. Maybe I shouldn’t, but I do.”

She was nervous, but not frightened. She loved him. It’d taken her some time to become aware of that fact. Time to forgive him for leaving. But that was in the past. Now was the future.

Their future.

Duncan took her into his arms and rose to his feet. She gasped at the sensation of her body pressing against his. Even the fur between them didn’t stop the electricity.

“You’re so very beautiful.” His hands skimmed her arms, sending shivers up and down her spine. “I’m going to kiss you now, my beautiful little Cat.”

Slowly he lowered his head and softly brushed her lips with his. His hands glided over her body, following the curve of her back, down her buttocks.

She lifted her arms, wrapped them around his neck and returned his kisses. At her response, his kiss deepened. His tongue gently played on her lower lip. He leaned his body into hers so she could feel his sex, hard and waiting for her.

“Do you feel the effect you have on me?” He rocked himself against the soft fur separating their bodies. “Do you feel how much I want you?”

She did feel it. He was huge. As if he could feel her fear, his mouth came down on hers, hard, demanding, sending all other thoughts out of her head. All the while, his hands kept caressing her.
