Simple breathing routine
Watching a clock, place your hand on your chest so you can feel the chest expand and relax. Over one minute count how many times you complete one breath cycle (breathing in and out is one cycle). Make a note of how many breath cycles you completed in that one minute.
To put functional and effective breathing in perspective, a good rate of breathing is between 10 and 14 breaths per minute. How did you do?
You can control the speed and quality of your breath. If you feel as though you are breathing from your chest only, try the following activity to shift to a deeper, more controlled breathing pattern. You will feel instantly calmer.
