Chapter Eleven

My heart slams into my ribcage with a painful thud. I collapse face-first onto the mattress with my ass still in the air. All trace of arousal vanishes, leaving me gasping around two thick cocks stretching my pussy beyond its limit and a huge shaft lodged in my rectum.

“Lir,” I grind out. “Stop.”

His cocks turn to water, and every hole gushes with warm liquid. The hands around my shoulders and hips turn me so I’m lying face-up on the mattress.

“Miranda,” Lir says, his voice urgent. “Are you hurt?”

“No.” I shake my head.

“Then why—“

“Police,” says another male voice. “Open this door immediately.”

Lir bares his teeth. “Who is this bastard?”

“Doesn’t Atlantis have law enforcement?”

His features pinch. “Our society has evolved to the point where such things are unnecessary.”

“Well, if they get through the door, I’m in deep shit.”

“They won’t,” he says.

I grab his arm. “Don’t kill them. Things will only get worse if one of the policemen drops dead.”

“Fine,” he growls and waves an arm toward the bedroom door. “I will seal the entrances.”

Relief loosens the muscles around my chest, which only tighten with another round of frantic knocking. Shit, fuck, and bollocks! This is all Robert’s fault.

I rise off the mattress, my gaze darting around the room. There’s no way I can have sex in such a commotion. I’m in the worst trouble of my life.

Lir tilts his head to the side, staring down at me with a deep frown. “You are worried.”

“Of course, I am,” I hiss. “This house is the lair of a serial killer. What did you do with the dead bodies?”

He doesn’t even flinch at my jab. “In the sewer. Why?”

“Did you hide the men’s vehicles?”

He shakes his head.

“Fuck!”

“Miranda Prosper,” a male voice barks.

Lir massages my shoulders. “Don’t worry about them.”

Panic punches through my ribcage and seizes my heart, while hysteria grabs me by the throat. I scramble off the bed and pace the room.

“What if they’ve already found the bodies? What if they think I’m the serial killer? Nobody will believe me when I say I didn’t drown those men. I can’t go to prison.”

Lir steps in front of me and blocks my path. “You are tense.”

“Of course, I am.”

“I don’t understand.” He cups my cheeks with his large hands. “The police will eventually get tired of knocking and then they’ll leave.”

“And return with a warrant to kick down the door,” I say.

“But you will be gone.”

My throat tightens, and I squeeze my eyes shut.

“You’re talking about Atlantis?”

“Yes.”

Dread pulls my heart to my stomach. Before I can contemplate why, another set of knocking makes my head snap toward the door. It’s muffled, as are the shouts of the policemen. I don’t need to ask to know that Lir is using his water to block the sound. Moments later, the air shifts the way it does on a flight, and we’re encased in silence.

“Won’t they notice we’re in some kind of water bubble?” I ask.

“It’s too thin to be detectable,” Lir replies, his voice a soothing balm.
