Every single day I pull another of dickhead’s re-election signs out of the front lawn. I’m about ready to set up a camera and see who the hell is replacing the signs I remove. Could Chad himself be doing it to irritate me?

Other than that, each day with Addie has been about the same. After our routine of visiting Davis in the mornings, and working at the motel in the afternoons, Addie joins me on the beach in the evenings, watching me workout. It’s hard to concentrate, though, when she’s wearing skimpy bikinis that leave very little to the imagination.

Christ, this woman is driving me insane. To compound matters, she sleeps across the hall from me at night, alone in my bed. My dick knows it, too. My case of blue balls needs some loving care.

It’s time to rectify this situation because I should be there in bed with her, making her feel so damn good. I don’t know how much longer I can keep my hands off of her.

Every day, we get closer, our friendship deepening, but it’s more than friendly—our glances brim with heat and desire, I’m sure of it. If it’d been any other woman back in L.A., I’d have her in my bed by now.

This isn’t California. Addie isn’t some random chick.

She’s the one who got away. I’m convinced of that now. It’s always been her. And that right there means I need to take extra special care with how I proceed. How can I tell her and admit I want more with her?

The conversation I had with Belle weighs on me, too. About Addie needing a rebound guy. That’s the last thing I need to be. Then again, every time I bring up leaving in August for conditioning camp, Addie freezes, like there’s something holding her back.

I’d take her with me if I could. Away from this town, far from her ex and her mother. I know she’d miss Davis, though.

It all bothers me so much; I cut my sprints short and plop to the sand. Addie hasn’t come down to the beach yet this evening, so I text Duke quickly.
