Stone and I spend all day together. We check out the various activities going on in town for the festival, including the carnival where we ride a few rides, play a few games, and eat a deliciously greasy lunch of corndogs, french fries, and we share an elephant ear for dessert. Afterward, we walk along the beach, talking and getting to know even more about each other. And then we decide to have dinner outside of town at McMenamins in nearby Gearheart. Stone had insisted on driving me today, since I drove the night before, and I have to admit, I love his Range Rover.
After dinner, we walk around the property, which is not only a restaurant, but a large hotel set between a golf course and the beach. We end up getting drinks at the hotelâs bar and taking them outside to drink while we sit at a campfire.
âHave you been to a McMenamins before?â I ask Stone, knowing there are several restaurants around both Oregon and Washington.
âA couple,â he replies. âIâve been to the one in Tacoma a few times, and also the one in Olympia. I think thatâs all, though.â
âIâve only been to this one. Iâve heard all their properties are unique.â
Stone nods. âYeah, theyâre pretty cool. Not your normal restaurants, I guess you could say. Iâd love to come back to this one and golf sometime.â
âYou like to golf?â I ask, adding another new fact to the things Iâm learning about Stone.
âYeah, I do. I donât go very often, but I enjoy golfing. Do you golf?â
Flashbacks of golfing with Clint a time or two come to mind, and I quickly remember how drunk he would get every time we went. One time, he even threw up on the sixteenth hole, which was utterly embarrassing.
What a dumbass.
I canât imagine Stone would ever do that.
âYeah, Iâve gone a few times. Itâs been a long time, though,â I reply, wanting to shove the memories of Clint far, far away.
âWe should go sometime,â Stone says, flashing his beautiful smile that makes my heart pound just a bit harder.
âIâd like that.â I smile back. Thank God Stone can make me forget about my past relationship.
We spend the next hour sitting around the campfire, talking as we sip our drinks. When we leave, Stone takes my hand in his as we walk toward the parking lot. I look up at him and smile.
âI like holding your hand,â he says. âI hope you donât mind.â
âI donât mind at all. I like holding your hand, too.â
Stone gives me all the feels, and Iâm ever so grateful that I met him.
