STEP 6: REVIEW AND EVALUATION

Periodic revision of the vision, mission and strategic plan is essential. This should be done so that organisational performance can be monitored against the strategic objectives that have been set. Organisations need to develop key evaluation matrices that measure all the areas that will identify organisation effectiveness and should include in the development of key matrices representation from across the organisation, which will give the organisation the opportunity to identify if one area in the organisation is not performing and affecting the performance in other areas. Data collected and used should be communicated to all relevant parties and used to make comparisons year on year. Good management information systems in organisations are vital in monitoring organisation performance. It is also important that the matrices used are reviewed along with the data collection mechanism. The outcome of the reviews will indicate whether organisations’ systems and structures are fit for purpose.

The execution of strategy is about actually making things happen throughout the organisation. It is only after action takes place that the effects of the strategic plan will become apparent.
