Chapter Ryan—8

Ryan reluctantly got up from Gia’s side after a restful night considering his balls were a deep shade of blue, their indoor camping scene filled with blankets and pillows in front of the fireplace that had resulted in one of the best non-sex nights he’d ever spent with a woman. Whether the stress of the drive from Charles and Emily’s, the storm itself, or the intensity of Gia’s orgasms he extracted from her with his mouth and his fingers, she slipped into a deep sleep snuggled in his arms after their intense make-out session the night before.

Ryan’s final thought before he joined her in slumber was that the peaceful look on her face seemed to echo what he was feeling deep in his soul: that this was right.

Pushing that thought away, Ryan refocused his mind to figure out a fix to the generator fuel pump now that the day’s light embarked, but seeing Gia curled up under the blankets, her small hand tucked under her chin as she slept, made him want to scoop her up and do more than kiss her awake. He wanted to plunge his cock deep inside her and make this woman his.

Maybe it was the fact they were confined to the cabin because of the storm. Maybe it was because her small, curvy frame called to him to hold her, protect her. The bottom line was that an internal voice was calling mine the more time he spent with her.

His kitchen search also yielded bowls, milk and cereal—Lucky Charms. This girl got more incredible with each tick tock of the Napoleon clock resting atop the rustic mantle over the fireplace.

“Hey,” Gia croaked and stretched her arms over her head, causing her gray t-shirt to creep up just a bit and offer Ryan a glimpse of the smooth skin he touched in the firelight the previous night. “Is that tea?”

“It is. Until we get power, that coffee pot in the kitchen is only taking up space on the counter and not yielding the brew I need to avoid the wrath of the Goddess Caffeinea.”

“Goddess, huh? Need your coffee, do you?” Gia grinned, and reached out to take the mug from Ryan filled with the hot tea.

Ryan took extra care to glide his fingers across Gia’s in the exchange and was thrilled—literally and figuratively—when the zing of connection passed between them, picking up from the previous evening.

“You could say that.”

“With the way the wind is howling, it doesn’t sound like the storm let up overnight.” Gia stood and padded over to the window with her mug. Ryan had to remind himself to focus
