Chapter 8

CHANGE YOUR CIRCLE

Support system ... family can be your enemy! If the family is willingly supporting you, fine. For those of you who have to plead with your family for support.

DON’T DO IT! This burns too much energy. And it’s painful and disappointing at the end.

I say this because when you expect family support and do not get it, the pain and disappointment can lead to you doubting yourself. Giving up, becoming frustrated, and feeling as if you are all alone. This could lead to depression.

One trick I used was to simply not tell my family what I was up to. I did this because I figured if they did not know what I was doing, then I could use that as an excuse for their lack of support.

There are certain people that are hard to eliminate from your life. Your children are one example. No matter how old your children may be, the bond between parent and child is strong.

However, there are situations that can justify eliminating adult children or your parents from your life. Not everyone has a place in your life.

Your life is sacred. Be careful whom you choose to include.

Consider how much the people in your life add and detract from it:

circle influence good or bad ... supportive or criticizing ... are they encouraging? Do they see your potential?

Do they suggest you stay the same by their actions, things they say, get angry, or speak negatively when you speak of an idea you have? Make jokes about your ideas? and express how they think it will not work?

It is rare to have people that truly want to see you excel. However, that is no reason to tolerate those who intentionally become obstacles in your life. Show them the door.

If it is a close friend or family member, first have a frank discussion. If that fails to have an effect, then show them the door.

The people you hang with, are a reflection of you. Couch potatoes usually are friends with other couch potatoes so they can have someone to converse with on their favorite TV shows etc. etc.

Criminals hang with criminals, moneymakers hang with moneymakers, successful people hang with other successful people. Point being alien yourself with people that are doing what you want to do and are what you want to become.

Watch, listen and learn from them. If you cannot meet them in person, read books about them, or even better, if they have written any how-to books you should read it.

Watch any videos they may have made about what they do. STUDY THEM!

As for those in your life that are not motivated, positive, and supportive... DROP THEM FROM YOU CIRCLE OF CLOSE FRIENDS.

Which people are a source of negativity? These people are not negative about your life. They are negative about life in general.

These are the people that are pessimistic, complain about everything, and suck the life out of you every time you see them. Ask yourself why you keep them around.

Unfamiliar social media pals.
