…I was transferred to investigator GARKUSHA, who created extremely hard conditions for my interrogation. I was transferred to Lefortovo Prison where the interrogations were conducted at night. Lieutenant GARKUSHA threatened to subject me to physical torture, cursed me, shouted that they would flay me, that he would keep me naked in a cell, that I would sing my testimony, that he would kill not only me but my children as well. Being a gravely ill person…and not feeling myself guilty, I quickly fell into depression; that is, I wept a great deal, I did not react to anything that happened, and so on.

During the interrogations, investigator GARKUSHA, as a rule, sat in an arm chair or on a divan, slept two to three hours, but then, assuming some strength, composed the testimony he needed and forced me to sign it.27
