Breath Tracks and Vocalizations

During ADR sessions, it is also common to record word-less elements, particularly for the main character. These might be gasps of surprise, and grunts of physical effort at particular moments, or the sounds of breath to cover more intimate scenes. This kind of vocalization is a critical element of sound design. As well as giving the audience a sense of leaning into the characters, it can also help communicate their inner world through the nuances of performance.
